Now that my studio is set up, I can finally start sewing my way through the fabric I’ve accumulated in the last few months. It’s a good thing too, because the kids and I could use some transition pieces as fall arrives.
I decided to catch up on my Vinegar and Honey Company BeeBoxes first. The BeeBox is a fabric subscription service. Every monthly they send a surprise knit fabric and a pattern suggestion/discount. Using fabric from my June and July boxes, I made this cute late summer/early autumn outfit.
The skirt is a simple A-line skirt using the Mama Chloe pattern from Made for Mermaids. It’s free if you join their Facebook group. I made it with a white and navy striped Liverpool from my June beebox. This is my favorite skirt right now!
The shirt is a Relaxed Raglan from Patterns for Pirates. I made it with green ribbed rayon spandex and gray lightweight sweater knit from my July BeeBox. There was some negativity on Vinegar and Honey Company’s Facebook group about the rayon spandex. It is delicate and a challenge to work with, but if you go slow and use clips it’s really not that hard. Both fabrics breathe well and are fairly lightweight – perfect for the cool mornings and warm afternoons of an Arkansas September!
